Aims & Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding about Child and Adolescent development is an essential tool for working with families to observe and assess what are ‘normal behaviours’ at certain stages of development, in order to safeguard children and young people.
- To enable participants to gain a working knowledge of child and adolescent development in terms of Physical changes , Cognitive Skills, Sexual Behaviour, Moral Reasoning, Cultural and Gender Differences , Legal Rights and Learning Outcomes
- To have a better informed understanding of the life changes for children and young people as they grow and develop
- To be aware of and able to identify what is normal child and adolescent development
- To have some understanding as to what is not considered as normal child and adolescent development and to be aware of how these situations relate to safeguarding children and young people.

This is a one day introductory course, for all those professionals (voluntary and statutory) who work regularly with children and families, and/or adults who are parents/carers and for those who have a greater degree of role accountability and responsibility for safeguarding children’s welfare (Groups 2, 3 and 4).
