The Care Act, which came into force on 1 April 2015, sets out the Local Authority’s responsibility for protecting adults with care and support needs from abuse or neglect, in primary legislation. For the first time, this makes direct reference to self-neglect.
This workshop will give practitioners an insight into why people self-neglect and the challenges they face in this area of work and in trying to achieve a positive outcome.
By the end of the training session participants will be able to:
- To identify the signs and symptoms of self-neglect
- To consider the issue of mental capacity in self-neglect
- To explore why people self-neglect
- To identify ways to achieve positive outcomes
